MARIETTA — Atlanta-based Isakson Living has received a continuance on the zoning of its proposed 843-unit senior living community it wants to build in east Cobb.
The proposed development was set to come before commissioners in February, but has been postponed until May.
In November, commissioners placed a moratorium on the zoning category Isakson Living was seeking — continuing-care retirement community — until April 1.
The moratorium was meant to give commissioners time to meet with county staff and business leaders in the senior living industry and make recommendations on how the zoning category could be improved given that the Isakson development had sparked wide-ranging opposition in the east Cobb community.
“They asked for it to be continued since there is the committee in place studying that code,” Commissioner Bob Ott said. “I think it’s good and appropriate that it’s continued until May since there is a review of the current code going on.”
