Louise Franklin Livingston, 94, of Marietta died Saturday, December 28, 2013. Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Marietta First United Methodist Church with Dr. Sam Matthews officiating. Interment will be in New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Livingston was a native of Marietta. She graduated from Marietta High School in 1937 with honors and was the editor of The Pitchfork. Mrs. Livingston graduated from Agnes Scott in Decatur in 1941. In 1945, she married Harry after his returning from POW camp in Germany. Mrs. Livingston was a member of Marietta First United Methodist Church since 1937 where she was a charter member of Progressive Sunday School Class and a long time member of the Nettie Tate Circle. She was also a member of the Marietta Junior League and Marietta Junior Women’s Club. Survivors include her sister, Virginia Franklin Miller of Marietta; nephews, Lamar Franklin, Jr. and his wife, Jackie of Blairsville, David Miller, Jr. and his wife, Janice of Marietta; great nieces and nephews, Lamar Franklin III of Nashville, TN, Scott Franklin and his wife, Tammy of Raleigh, NC, Jeff Hunt and his wife, Christie of Atlanta, Jennifer Newberry and her husband, Ross of Roswell, Melody Crowley and her husband, Tom of Atlanta, Michelle Miller of Marietta; and other much loved nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Livingston, Jr. of 66 years; mother and father, William Jefferson Franklin and Clara Snead Franklin; brother, Lamar Franklin, Sr. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mrs. Livingston to Marietta First United Methodist Church, 56 Whitlock Ave SW, Marietta, GA 30064. Family will receive friends 12 noon – 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the church. Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta will be handling the arrangements. 770-428-1511.
