MARIETTA — Police are investigating a sexual assault, armed robbery and kidnapping of a woman that occurred on Lake Drive near Claymore Drive in the city about 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 5.

The suspect was driving an older model white Ford Crown Victoria with an unknown taxi company logo with red lettering. He offered the woman a ride. After she got in the car with the man, he pulled a hand-gun before sex-ually assault-ing the woman in the back seat.

The woman was allowed to leave the car after the assault and the suspect was last seen traveling toward South Marietta Parkway.

“We’re glad she’s alright, but it’s still just heartbreaking,” said Officer David Baldwin with Marietta P.D. “It looks like he’s driving a taxi, maybe that makes it feel a little bit more legitimate, and it’s 4:30 in the afternoon, broad daylight. And the other thing is, that’s not a vacant street, that’s busy through there. You’ve got Wal-Mart on one side and a heavy residential area on the other side.”

The suspect is described as possibly being an Hispanic man about 6-foot-2 and about 40 to 45 years old.

The suspect has a scar over his right eye, a tattoo of a teardrop below the left eye and a large tattoo of a bird or eagle with red eyes on one of his forearms. Anyone with information as to the identity or whereabouts of the suspect is asked to contact Detective Shannon Arrowood at 770-794-5371 or the Marietta Police Anonymous Tip Line at (770) 794-6990.
