DEAR EDITOR:

Our company has been in Cobb County and the city of Marietta for over 50 years and we have never received any type of tax abatement from the county or the city. I now understand that John Williams is going to receive a $103 million dollar tax free abatement in exchange for new construction in the county for 10 years.

Cobb County schools are broke and need every tax penny from the construction industry to help fund the schools.

Last year, our taxes increased 17 percent from the previous year and these tax increases are becoming more and more, which is why our company has not profited in years.

I think we need to start a movement to recall the Cobb County Commissioners who are giving tax abatements to their friends. This is not a level playing field. We are struggling to pay our taxes and collect rents from our tenants due to all of our tax increases and I believe that this is completely disrespectful to the rest of taxpayers in Cobb County.
