The game, which is part of a doubleheader showcase with the Georgia Northwest All-Star Bowl, will be held at McEachern on Dec. 21 and feature some of the top senior football players from the county.
The Cobb game is scheduled to start at 2 p.m., with the Northwest game proceeding it at 10 a.m.
The Nationals’ roster, which features players from Campbell, Harrison, Hillgrove, Kell, Kennesaw Mountain, North Cobb, North Cobb Christian, Osborne, Walton and Walker, includes 73 seniors. The Americans’ roster, built with players from Allatoona, Lassiter, Marietta, McEachern, Mount Paran Christian, Pebblebrook, Pope, South Cobb, Sprayberry, Wheeler and Whitefield Academy, includes 65 seniors.
Several well-known names will litter the sidelines of both units. Campbell safety and running back Mike Rogers headlines the list of players on the Nationals roster. He will be joined by Walton quarterback Price Wilson, Harrison lineman Joey Connors and North Cobb Christian wide receiver John Towne among others.
The Nationals sideline will include Marietta linebacker Tyrell Tomlin, Whitefield Academy quarterback Everett Pollard and Pebblebrook running back Perry Seldon.
“I’m excited to see some of these kids on my sideline instead of the other sideline,” said Campbell coach Harris Rainbow, who will helm the Nationals team. “When I looked at the teams and the groups of kids that were on my side, I was pretty excited about the defensive linemen.
“To coach a couple of the kids from Harrison — Joey Connors and Jalen Penn and Bradley Chubb and Jaylen Reid from Hillgrove — those are four college-level defensive linemen. So, I’m pretty excited about that.”
The Americans roster will feature players from five state playoffs squads — Mount Paran Christian, Allatoona, McEachern, Marietta and Lassiter. The Nationals roster includes four teams — Kell, Hillgrove, North Cobb and Walton — that qualified for the state playoffs.
“We get the Hillgrove linebackers and just a good group of kids,” Rainbow said. “I don’t get to watch a lot of film of the east Cobb kids, but I know the coaches are excited about the different staffs that will be a part of our teams.
“It’s a really good event and it will be exciting to be a part of it and we get to see a bunch of the kids that we hear and see about. It’s a fun time.”
