Douglas Jenkins of Kennesaw was arrested Monday on charges of aggravated assault, battery, and false imprisonment. Police say Jenkins, 49, attempted to choke and suffocate a woman after the victim says he became irate and threw her on a mattress and love seat at a home.

According to the warrant, Jenkins first placed his hands around the woman’s neck in an attempt to choke her, but was unsuccessful and she escaped. He is accused of then trying to suffocate her with a blanket when she returned to the home for her belongings.

EMS evaluated the woman’s injuries and said she suffered slight swelling to her mouth, the warrant states.

Jenkins has been issued a bond of $55, 220 by the Kennesaw police, but has not been released, jail records indicate.
