Smyrnan against stadium

DEAR EDITOR: As a Smyrna resident who lives within 1.5 miles of the proposed Braves stadium site, I absolutely oppose this deal. I moved to the area 12 years ago for a lot of reasons and a potential major sports complex was not one of them.

Now to make this whole debate worse, Cobb County Commission Chairman Tim Lee proves that he just doesn’t get why certain residents are upset. As a voter, I honestly don’t care if the stadium funding is purportedly revenue neutral in terms of increased taxes to most residents. I am more concerned that this deal is being thrust upon we who particularly live near the site with little public input and how my current quality of life will be deteriorated.

This action to reveal and rubber stamp the deal with less than one month’s notice is nothing but smoke-filled room politics. If the Commission does not delay this vote to permit more public input then I will vote against both Chairman Lee and Commissioner Bob Ott at the next election.

Mr Stewart, you lost, get over it or move. Your vote will not have any affect on the next election. More will benefit from this deal than suffer. You my friend are selfish and probably from the north. You property values are going to skyrocket if you own property which I seriously doubt. Sell and go back where you came from. Would you like a map for directions I'd be glad to provide some cheese with you whine.
