As a long-term resident of Cobb County and a loyal Braves fan, I have been delighted to hear they could be coming here soon. However, as a frequent user of I-285, I-75, and a citizen who has been concerned with the faltering economy and all the challenges it has placed on all activities in our county, I am greatly concerned with the so-called “deal” to bring them here.

Considering that the Braves are a very lucrative business, owned by some of the richest people in the nation, they should have great incentive to purchase property here and build their own place of business without financial help from me or any other Cobb citizen. When I see all the benefit accruing to the Braves at the expense of the taxpayer, it seems we are being taken to the cleaners.

When Tim Lee says “We” want to build a world-class stadium, it makes me wonder who the “WE” is and what Mr. Lee’s connection might be to the “deal,” as I was under the impression he worked for Cobb citizens — and the “we” I identify with have had no knowledge of this deal, let alone had any inputs into the character or class of the stadium.

I think Commissioner Lee should welcome the Braves with open arms to this great county. And if the tax-packed deal does go through as has already been planned, I think the stadium should be named after those who will be paying for it: “Snookered Field.” And we can all sit together in the Snookered section.

It is not about minimum government. It is about maximum profit.

How about "Field of Schemes"?
