A Mableton man was arrested Nov. 13 on charges of aggravated assault, battery, possession of a firearm and stalking. Police say while driving that night, Arnold Camarena-Maldonado, 24, used a revolver to fire shots at another motorist after following the man on Dodgen Road in Mableton.

According to the arrest warrant, Camarena pulled next to the driver and shot him in the head, causing both vehicles to swerve off the road before he exited the car and used another firearm to aim at the victim.

Police then apprehended Camarena at the scene.

The bullet is still lodged in the victim’s head, who is in critical condition for a fractured skull, brain bleeding and a swollen eye at Grady Hospital, the warrant states. Camarena has been given no bond and is still in the county jail, records indicate.
