Kaazim Abdul-Khaliq of Marietta has been charged with felony intent to distribute, possession of a firearm during a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and misdemeanor obstruction.

Police say Abdul-Khaliq had a large clear plastic bag tucked under his shirt containing 324 white rectangular pills and seven half pills with the word “Xanax” inscribed on one side and the number two on the other.

After being told to stop and speak with an officer after an officer smelled marijuana, police say Abdul-Khaliq continued to walk and finally, after throwing a firearm from his waist, complied with orders to get on the ground, according to an arrest warrant.

Abdul-Khaliq was carrying a black and silver Smith and Wesson .40 caliber handgun concealed near his waist and had been previously convicted of possessing cocaine, according to the warrant.
