MARIETTA — Two days and nights of filming for an hour-long scripted pilot to air on VH1 closed the doors and blackened the windows of a popular downtown pub this week.

On Wednesday afternoon, large trucks and carts filled with filming equipment lined the parking spaces on both sides of Atlanta Street for a block in front of Johnnie MacCracken’s Pub south of the Square.

A notice on MacCracken’s Facebook page read, “I have been bought and paid for to close along with other scheduled employees.”

A line of about 20 people entered the bar late Wednesday afternoon, dressed for a night out on the town, to film a memory montage scene for the new show “Hindsight.”

A producer on the Hindsight set said it is the company’s policy — Viacom International Inc. owns VH1 — not to allow crew members to release information about a shoot.

All of the extras were told to sign confidentiality agreements, including one man from North Carolina, Andrew Callihan.

Callihan said he has been traveling back and forth to the Atlanta metro area to be in three movies in the last month.

One of the movies was “Dumb and Dumber To,” which was filmed on the Square in mid-October.

There has been an increase in film and television productions in the Southeast and especially Georgia, Callihan said, and Marietta is a great location outside of the large urban environment of Atlanta.

Marietta is much easier to access and has “small town appeal,” Callihan said.

Callihan said he follows casting calls online. The Marietta listing on for Wednesday described a “Wedding Date” with bridesmaids and groomsmen.

The listing asked for people with cars that date back before 1994 or people who want to dress in grunge attire.

Another section of the casting call on asked for hipsters who have a “rock and roll, fashion forward, eclectic style.”

The casting call was open for people between 18 to 40 years old of all ethnicities.

According to, an entertainment news website, “Hindsight” is about an almost 40-year-old woman, Becca, who is getting married for the second time.

However, the morning of her wedding, Becca wakes up 15 years in the past, the day she married her first husband.

The lead character must decide if she will relive her first marriage, or change the past, stated.

Hindsight stars Laura Ramsey and Craig Horner, who is known best for the television series “Legend of the Seeker.”

Dear VH1 wardrobe people, just burn the wardrobe used for this shoot. You will NEVER get the stench out, so don't even bother trying.
