Portions of the 12.8-mile Silver Comet Trail will be closed this winter while the Cobb County Department of Transportation repairs or replaces six pedestrian bridges.

The bridges affected are over Powder Springs Creek, Lucille Creek, Noses Creek, Olley Creek, Nickajack Creek and Cooper Lake Road.

The work will be funded by the 2011 special purpose local option sales tax and will cause the closures of the bridges from January until April.

No access or detours will be available during construction.

Additional crews will also work on other areas repairing fences, drainage systems and grading.
