Man accused of charging at police officer

Darrius Marquis Jones, 20, of Canton, was arrested after police say he charged a detention officer at the Smyrna Police Department.

Jones had to be restrained by several officers to keep him from attack another individual, according to an arrest warrant.

Police say he intentionally bumped into a woman’s abdomen because he was angry that she told him to go into another room.

Jones is charged with felony riot in a penal institution and misdemeanor simple battery.
