Dasha Mapp, 17, was arrested Oct. 1 at South Cobb High School on charges of disruption of public schools, simple battery, and battery and visible harm to a teacher. Mapp, who reportedly engaged in a hallway fight with another student, delayed classes when she punched and pulled her opponent’s hair, according to the warrant. The fight escalated when a teacher attempted to intervene and was kicked and scratched in several places.

According to jail records, Mapp was released the next day on a $3,000 bond. The teacher was advised to “seek immediate further medical assistance” for her injuries.

Most teachers cannot break up fights among students without getting hurt. They need to call the police.
