Mr. James Robert Gantt, age 71, of Hiram, formerly of Powder Springs, passed away October 14, 2013. Mr. Gantt was a native and lifelong resident of Cobb County. He graduated from South Cobb High School in 1964. He served his country as a Military Policeman in the U. S. Army. He loved playing golf and watching football and baseball. He also loved music and watching his son, Chad, play. James held two very important positions at the Cobb County Courthouse in his 34 year career. He was the Chief Deputy Court Clerk for the Cobb Superior Court (elected) and after this service he became the Court Clerk for the Cobb Magistrate Court (appointed by the Chief Magistrate). He served with distinction in both of these important positions. He is survived by his children, Chad and Greg Gantt; five grandchildren and one great grandchild. Memorial services will be held (TODAY) Friday October 18 at 2 PM in the chapel of Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home.
