DEAR EDITOR: To invoke the war dead in furtherance of your support for big government is shameful (“Foley: An apology to Private Parman,” Oct. 11). How arrogant of you to presume a man who fought and died for his country nearly 70 years ago even shares your liberal view that this country should continue deficit spending to the point of weakening our national security and jeopardizing our sovereignty.

Private Parman and his family are due an apology all right, but it should come from the scribe who just dishonored him, not our fiscal conservatives and patriots in Washington.

Ms. or Mr. Davis - I looked at the tomb stones and I could not identify those graves that contained liberals or conservatives. They were just Americans and what the tea party is doing to America today is what dishonors them.

I am always amazed by those like Davis who believe they have a monopoly on patriotism.
why not

As long as conservatives are in the mood for apologies, how about an apology to the 4,488 American soldiers killed, tens of thousands wounded, millions of Iraq's killed, wounded and displaced in a War based on trumped up phony intelligence in a search for non-existent WMD's.
