October 30, 1926 - October 09, 2013. Mrs. Betty G. Wood, 86, of Marietta, GA, passed away in Cedartown GA, on Wednesday, October 9, 2013. She was born on October 30, 1926 in Polk County GA but lived most of her life in Marietta. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Lizzie Grice. She was a member of Olive Springs Baptist Church in Marietta. Mrs. Wood retired from Southern Bell Telephone Company after many years of service and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. She was a hard working, loving mother that made dreams come true for her three children. Mrs. Wood is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Lizzie Grice; brother, Charles Glenn Grice; sister, Louise Finley and a brother, Brother Grice. Mrs. Wood is survived by her husband of 65 years, Earl Lewis Wood; her children, Ronnie Wood of Cedartown, Donnie and Cathy Wood of Ellijay GA, Debbie and Hank Connelly of Cedartown GA; grandchildren, Nathan and Kari Wood of Marietta, Portia and John Justice of Douglasville; great grandchildren, Breanna Wood, Andrew Justice and Alena Justice; sister, Mary Moon of Marietta and one brother, Bill Grice of Kennesaw. The funeral arrangements for Mrs. Wood will be conducted on Saturday, October 12th at 4:00 PM in the Chapel of Carmichael Funeral Home in Marietta, GA. Mrs. Wood will lie in state for an hour before the service. Interment will follow in the Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery. The family of Mrs. Wood will receive family and friends on Friday, October 11th from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and then from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Carmichael Funeral Home in Marietta (770) 424-4924.
