Police investigating cause of fatal Cobb motorcycle crash

MARIETTA — The Marietta Police Department is investigating the cause of a fatal motorcycle crash that shut down both north and south bound lanes of Cobb Parkway on Friday night.

At about 10:30 p.m., Shawn Head of Winston was driving a 2002 Kawasaki ZX9 on Cobb Parkway near Southern Polytechnic State University when he veered on the south bound shoulder.

Head lost control of the motorcycle and crashed, according to Officer David Auld with Marietta Police Department.

Head was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital by Metro Atlanta Ambulance, where he was pronounced dead.
