Harold Antonio Parks, 41, is wanted by Cobb County Police on charges of felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Parks is accused of shooting and killing 27-year-old Terrence Washington at about 7:30 a.m.
Monday at an apartment in the Riverside Apartment Townhomes complex at 311 Twin Hill Road in Austell.
When police arrived on the scene, Washington was found dead from multiple gunshot wounds.
Officer Mike Bowman with Cobb Police said his department is not releasing any additional information at this time about the motive of the shooting or what the relationship is between Parks and Washington.
Court and jail records indicate this is not the first time Parks has turned up on the radar of Cobb County Police. According to a March 23 arrest warrant, Parks allegedly hit a woman who was living with him on the back with a stick, tripped her and then punched her in the face and head three to four times. He was arrested that day.
“(This caused) a visible (bruise) to the left side of (her) forehead just above the left eye, as well as a visibly bleeding laceration to her lower lip,” the warrant states.
The incident reportedly happened at a home in the same complex where Washington was shot and killed.
Parks was released from the Cobb County jail four days later on a $2,500 bond.
Nancy Bodiford, spokesperson for the jail, also said records show that Parks was booked in November 2009 on charges as a fugitive from justice in South Carolina.
Washington’s death was the ninth of 10 murders reported to Cobb Police so far in 2013.
Austell resident Deidra Smith, 47, was allegedly shot and killed by 17-year-old Khalil James Kelly Monday night at a home in the 7000 block of Oakhill Circle in Austell.
Kelly was arrested Tuesday morning.
