MARIETTA — Mary Blanchard of Marietta was arrested by Cobb County police Wednesday on two felony charges accusing her of exploiting an elderly person and credit card fraud.

Between July 2011 and March 2012, the warrant stated, Blanchard kept an 87-year-old family member from viewing her bank statements.

The warrant stated Blanchard had these bank records mailed to her house instead of the other woman’s.

During that time, Blanchard used the funds for 72 transactions, totaling $17,425.54, without the woman’s knowledge or consent, the warrant said.

The warrant stated Blanchard also convinced the woman to remove the equity from her home loan, which has caused the house on Carefree Circle to go into foreclosure.

Blanchard was given a $20,000 bond and released the next day.
