Charles Hubert Millsaps, age 93, passed away to his heavenly home Friday, September 13, 2013 in Smyrna, Georgia with his family by his side. Hubert lived over 80 years in the Lakeside Community of Monroe County. He was an Army veteran of WWII having served in Germany. He retired from Alcoa Aluminum Co. of America after 35 years of service. In his retirement he enjoyed gardening and woodworking. In 2005 he and Edith moved to Delmar Gardens Retirement Village, Smyrna, Georgia to be near their son and grandchildren. Hubert was a former deacon and member of Vonore Baptist Church, Vonore, TN for more than 80 years. Preceded in death by parents, Grover C. and Dinah Stratton Millsaps; brother, Clarence Millsaps. Survivors: wife of 67 years, Edith Presley Millsaps, Smyrna, Ga; son, Ken Millsaps and wife Sandra, Marietta, Ga; grandchildren, Patrick Millsaps and wife Elizabeth, Albany, Ga, Alison Morris and husband Sean, Powder Springs, Ga., great grandchildren, Morgan, Alison, & Kendall Millsaps, Mills, Truett, & Stanton Morris; sister in law, Mrs. Clarence (Janie) Millsaps, Vonore, TN; several nieces and nephews. Home going celebration service 3 p.m. Sunday, Biereley-Hale Chapel, Rev. Robert D. Moore officiating. Interment in Haven Hill Memorial Gardens with military honors. The active deacon board of Vonore Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to Vonore Baptist Church Building Fund, 714 Church St.,Vonore, TN 37885 or to Alzheimer’s Research, Family will receive friends 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Madisonville, TN.
