WOOD, Anne D.
Anne D. Wood, 87, passed away on Friday, September 6th at DeKalb Medical Center. Born on September 24th, 1924 in New York, New York, she lived for over 30 years in New Hyde Park, New York before retiring with her loving husband John W. Wood to Marietta, Georgia in 1982. Anne was an active member of Transfiguration Catholic Church in Marietta, where she met numerous lifelong friends and grew in her love for her faith. She was an avid volunteer in Marietta helping out with various community and church activities. Her true passion was as a devoted volunteer with the Aids Ministry at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, also in Marietta where she diligently and lovingly served the Aids Community for many years beginning in the mid-1980’s. Anne is survived by her son, Jack Wood of Ohio; her son James Wood and his wife Barbara of Arizona; her daughter Donna Joe and her husband Donald of Marietta; four grandchildren Sam Wood, Matthew Joe, Ansley Joe and Natalie Joe; and one great-grandchild, Michael Joe. She was preceded in death by her husband of over fifty years John, sisters Jessica Schmidt and Monica Salerno, and brother Peter Brennan. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 12th at 2 PM at Transfiguration Catholic Church in Marietta, Georgia. Burial will follow at Georgia Memorial Park in Marietta. Those wishing to honor Anne are encouraged to make a donation to either the St. Ann’s Catholic Church Aids Ministry or to the ChrisTeen Ministry at Transfiguration Catholic Church.
