Larry “Max” Johnson, age 80, of Smyrna, passed away Thursday, August 29. A funeral service will be held 2 pm Sunday, September 1 in the chapel of Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna. Interment will be in Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Johnson served in the US Army. He was an ink chemist in the manufactured ink business for over 50 years, working with several large companies, Levy, Mead and Borden among them. He later owned and operated Graphic Design Ink. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, Ashley S. and Florence Pirkle Johnson, brothers Stanley, Donald, and Jerry Johnson, and sister Joyce Jones. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Sue Johnson of Smyrna, daughters Phyllis (Cris) Ware of Marietta, Wanda (Billy) Kato of Dallas, sister Lois Helen Johnson Shortt of Cornelia, sister in law Joyce (Michael) Abate of Tylertown, MS, grandchildren Christopher Ware, Jr., Ricky Kato, Sissy Bozeman, great grandchildren Christopher Ware III, Kylie Bozeman, several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 4-7 pm Saturday, August 31 at the funeral home.
