Ellen Gwendolyn Estfan, 89 passed away on August 13, 2013, after an illness of several months. As President of the East Marietta Women’s Club in the late 1950’s, Ms Estfan spearheaded the creation of Sewell Park, which was the first public park in Cobb County. She is survived by two daughters, Marilyn Argo of Snellville, Serena Lee of Marietta and Vail Colorado; sisters, Patricia Burns of Marietta and Evelyn Etheridge of Smyrna; a brother, Robert Maxwell of Brewton, Alabama; a granddaughter, Erin Creel of St. Peter, Minnesota, a grandson, Philip Argo of Sandy Springs; and two great grandchildren. No service will be held at this time. Medford-Peden Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
