Police say a Marietta man beat up his girlfriend at a local hotel and pulled a gun on a man who attempted to help her.

William Ward Kinergy of Marietta is wanted by Cobb County Police on charges of aggravated battery and aggravated assault with a weapon, both felonies.

According to the warrant, he is accused of “maliciously” assaulting his girlfriend Aug. 3 in a hotel room at the Extended Stay America at 3316 Busbee Drive where the two had been living for two weeks.

He reportedly was angry about his missing wallet and blamed the woman for stealing it, the warrant states.

“Kinergy got on top of (the woman) and punched her six or seven times causing damaging injuries to her face and shoulder,” the warrant states. “The left side of (the woman’s) face was severely swollen and her eye was completely shut and unusable.”

The warrant also states that Kinergy is accused of pulling a pistol out of a drawer, loading the chamber with a bullet and telling a man who attempted to help the woman to get out.

Kinergy is not in custody and there is no bond amount listed for his arrest, according to Cobb County jail records.
