BRUNSWICK — A defense attorney for a teen accused in the shooting death of a coastal Georgia baby is arguing that police didn’t properly search the area near the crime scene.

A public defender representing De’Marquise Elkins filed a motion this week in Glynn County Superior Court asking prosecutors to inspect storm and sewage drains near the area where 13-month-old Antonio West was shot, the Brunswick News reported Wednesday.

Investigators have said the boy was sitting in his stroller when Elkins, 18, and Dominique Lang, 15, tried robbing the boy’s mother, Sherry West. Investigators have said the boy was shot after a brief struggle March 21.
