On Monday, the Cobb County Chamber of Commerce’s Young Professionals organization recognized its “Next Generation Award” winners.
The 2013 recipients were Marietta resident Angela Shipp, director of publications and digital media at Cobb EMC, and Woodstock resident Jason Sleeman, banker-financial center manager at Fifth Third Bank.
Shipp, 39, is responsible for overseeing all branding and communications projects for Cobb EMC. She has worked through three website design projects and helped the company establish a strong social media presence. In addition to her responsibilities at Cobb EMC, she has served as president of the Association of Utility Professionals and was a member of the GEORGIA Magazine Advisory Board in 2012. She has received awards for her civic and volunteer work, which includes being named one of the 2007 YWCA Tribute to Women of Achievement honorees and receiving the CCFA Outstanding Professional Leader award in 2007.
Jason Sleeman, 33, works in three different financial centers for Fifth Third Bank. He recently undertook the task of leading a team in a branch office and effectively achieved results unreachable in previous years. He has created strong partnerships both inside and outside the bank, resulting in opportunities to grow the customer base. Sleeman was named Fifth Third Bank’s “Rookie of the Year” in 2011. He was most recently featured in Cobb Life’s “20 Rising Stars Under 40.”
Cobb Young Professionals monthly meetings are conducted to network with other young professionals and feature various guest speakers bi-monthly on topics that can influence their job performance and careers. Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is the yearlong presenting sponsor and Fifth Third Bank is the award sponsor.
The next meeting of the Young Professionals will be Sept. 7 and John Stephenson, the president and CEO of the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, will be the guest speaker.
