James Woodrow (Woody) Garrett, age 86, of Kennesaw, GA, passed away at his home on July 26, 2013. He was born on June 21, 1927 in Gadsden, AL and moved to Georgia as a child. He was the son of James W. Garrett Sr. and Eva Marie Smith. Mr. Garrett was a longtime resident of Marietta, GA. He worked for Lockheed Martin for 30 years and owned the Kennesaw/ Acworth Quik Shop. He was a veteran of the Merchant Marines during the Korean War. Woody was an avid golfer and was a long time member of Pine Tree Country Club. Mr. Garrett was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, three brothers and a son-in-law. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara Hudson Garrett; daughter, Cindy Garrett Swann; son, Brian Alan Garrett; one grandson, Alan Swann and one granddaughter, Wendy Swann Meyer; 6 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Perry Garrett. A memorial service will be held at Shady Grove Baptist Church at 1654 Bells Ferry Road, Marietta, GA. on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 1 pm.
