A Marietta man is accused of intentionally damaging a neighbor’s property and shooting his gun in the afternoon toward a park where children normally play.

James Tarver reportedly shot his handgun out of his front door. The bullets traveled past a park and two streets before hitting a neighbor’s house on Awtry Street in Marietta, causing $500 worth of damage to the property, according to the arrest warrant. Police said Tarver then called 911 to report the shootings in order to eliminate himself as a possible suspect.

Tarver was arrested by the Marietta Police Department on July 9 and jailed on a $20,000 bond. He was charged with two counts of reckless conduct, discharge of a weapon, obstruction, unlawful conduct and three counts of property damage, all misdemeanors.
