U.S. divided into two different worlds

DEAR EDITOR:

One wonders where those perennial race-baiters Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson were when the O. J. Simpson trial verdict was announced. In that case, Simpson had clearly and undeniably murdered two people, yet received an acquittal. No “outrage” on Sharpton’s and Jackson’s part there!

In the Zimmerman trial, the question of guilt or innocence was not as clearly drawn, and reasonably prudent men (which, by definition, excludes Sharpton and Jackson) could disagree. The burden of proof rested with the prosecution, and it failed to convince the jury that any motive other than self-defense existed. As a matter of fact, the vast preponderance of the evidence showed that Zimmerman was on his back with Martin straddling him, punching him in the face and beating his head on the pavement.

Martin was no “innocent, Skittles-eating child,” as the prosecution tried time after time to portray him. Rather, he was a strapping young man, a football player, who had had several scrapes with the law in his brief lifespan.

The media were also complicit in this effort, opting to show a years-old photo of Martin in which he appeared as a pleasant young boy, instead of more-accurate later photos showing him in a truer light.

It is of more than passing interest to note that when Simpson was acquitted, the streets of LA and other cities and towns across the nation did not become flooded with rioters who looted and burned, as has been the case with Rodney King and now, still festering but gaining momentum with the flames being fanned by malcontents such as Jackson and Sharpton and other race-baiting agitators, the Martin verdict.

The NAACP is agitating for a civil trial against Zimmerman. Given who our current attorney general is, that will probably happen. I wonder if Holder can spare time from his busy schedule to file charges of voter intimidation against Philadelphia’s New Black Panthers, whose actions threatening white voters were captured on camera and whose guilt is indisputable (even by such an accomplished dissembler as Jay Carney, who is faced on a daily basis with concocting excuses and manufacturing reasons explaining his boss’s continuing mis- and mal-feasances).

We truly do live in two different worlds — one in which the citizens are, for the most part, level-headed, law-abiding, reasonable people; the other populated by irresponsible, emotionally driven people who view the consequence of their actions with utter disregard and who are invested in a false but convenient lifestyle of victimization and self-pity. These folks are the only reason race-harlots like the “Reverends” Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson continue to exist!

The U.S. experiences approximately 770,000 instances of interracial crime each year. An astounding 85 percent are committed by blacks, with 45 percent of those being black-on-white, 43 percent black-on-black, and 10 percent black-on-Hispanic. To borrow an old law-school phrase, “Res ipsa loquitur”— the thing speaks for itself!
