Police arrested Rachel Gilbert of Kennesaw on July 8 for reportedly putting children in danger by leaving them unattended, and for consuming alcohol under the age of 21.

Gilbert is accused of leaving children unsupervised in the apartment she shares with her mother-in-law. Though her mother-in-law was home when Gilbert left the apartment, she was asleep and Gilbert did not tell her the children were being left unattended.

Her mother-in-law told police she did not know how long Gilbert had been gone and realized she was not home when she heard a 2-year-old girl in the apartment going in and out of the door crying.

There was no lock on the door to prevent children from leaving, and hazardous household chemicals were left within reach. Gilbert admitted to drinking, according to a police report.

Gilbert is charged with contributing to the deprivation of a minor and possession or purchase of alcohol by a minor.
