Mr. James David Whitener, Sr., age 83, of Kennesaw, GA passed away on Friday, July 12, 2013. Funeral services will be Monday, July 15th at 11 AM in the Chapel of Carmichael Funeral Home in Marietta, GA with Dr. Russell Whitener officiating. Interment will be in Midway Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Powder Springs, GA. Mr. Whitener was born North Carolina and had lived in Cobb County for 13 years. He retired as a Major in the United States Army, serving in Vietnam and Korea. He was a member of the 82nd Airborne Rangers and he sang in the German-American Choir and Choral Guild in Williamsburg, VA. Mr. Whitener was a member of Midway Presbyterian Church. Mr. Whitener is survived by his wife of 59 years, Keller Whitener of Kennesaw, GA; sons & daughters-in-law, J. D. “Huck” & Shelley Whitener, Jr. of Kennesaw, GA, Michael & Myra Whitener of Richmond, VA, Dr. Russell & Rebecca Whitener of Pulaski, VA; grandchildren, James D. Whitener, III, Amber C. Stout, John Whitener, Jesse Whitener; great grandchildren, Eliad Stout, Levi Stout, Prudence Whitener and James D. Whitener, IV.
