Today is your chance to speak out on the new reversible lanes project targeted for Georgia's northwest corridor.

The Georgia Department of Transportation is set to host a public hearing from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday. It will be held at the Double Tree Hotel on South Park Place.

Project officials are asking for your feedback on the design, construction and partial financing of the sizable project. It calls for developing two new reversible lanes on Intertate-75 between I-285 and I-575.

DOT officials say they hope to finalize a contract this year, start construction next year and open the lanes by 2018.

Boston installed reversible lanes on the Southeast Expressway years ago. It was a success, perhaps the GA DOT should contact the MA DOT, since they have experience and some valuable insight.

Reversible lanes are FANTASTIC! I've been to a couple of places that have them and they work great. Increase lanes in the direction of rush hour by 2 or 3, without having to widen by 6 lanes.

Now please, don't take 15 years to build them.

1 to 1-1/2 year to design it. 3 to 4 years to construct it.
its ridiculous

You are supposed to drive into the city in forward gear in the morning and then drive home in reverse in the afternoon? That is insane. Most U.S. Americans can barely back out of their own driveways!
