Mrs. Patricia Pyron Sherwood, passed away after an extensive illness, at the age of 82 on July 3, 2013, at The Fountainview Center in Decatur, Ga. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Robert E. Sherwood. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Marietta, 189 Church Street, Marietta, GA at 11:30 am on Friday, July 5th. Friends are invited to a visitation and reception following the service. Mrs. Sherwood was born on July 15, 1930 in Atlanta, Ga. to the late Edwyn B. and Lela T. Pyron. She grew up in West End and graduated from Russell High School. She attended Shorter College. She worked at Davison’s in Atlanta, where she met her future husband, Robert (“Bob”). Mrs. Sherwood was a charter member of Cascade Road Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. After raising her four children, she began a career with the Hallmark Card Company and retired after 15 years of successful service. More recently, she lived in Marietta, Ga. and was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church-Marietta, where she served regularly with the Meals-On-Wheels program. Survivors include her beloved children and their spouses: Paul Sherwood (Amy), Becky Clark (David), John Sherwood (Rachael), and Bruce Sherwood. She is survived by her eleven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and her five siblings: Ed Pyron (Diane), Alec Pyron (Felicia), Elliott Pyron, Doug Pyron (Cathy), and sister Lucy Dell Pyron. She was sincerely loved by her entire family and all her friends, and will be sorely missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at 41 Perimeter Center East Suite 550 Atlanta, GA 30346. Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta will be handling the arrangements.
