Half a century ago on May 31, 1963, the Marietta High School graduating class gathered at Northcutt Stadium to receive their diplomas. After they departed, some headed off to college, some started careers and others planned their marriages. The class celebrated its 50th reunion the weekend of May 31, that began with a reception at the historic Strand Theatre on the Marietta Square where class members enjoyed fond memories of weekend movies they watched as kids.

Saturday brought a golf tournament at Hilton Atlanta/Marietta Hotel, the site of the former Marietta Country Club. On Saturday morning, many members stepped back in time with a guided tour of the old Marietta High School (now the middle school). That evening was fun filled at the Marietta Country Club where the group enjoyed a delicious dinner, videos with pictures and music from the past followed by a deejay that played favorite songs from the years at Marietta High.

The reunion committee included Joanne Wilson Allen, Dan Burge, Audrey Blanks Casey, Mike Clotfelter, Marcelle Black David, Nancy Morris Dorsey, Betsy Ector Goss, Frank Leiter, Carol Ann Evans Martin, Diane McClure, Marsha Parris Thompson, Dianne Watkins Weeks, and Sharon Kirk Wilson.

Polk Street Players announced the cast for "Rex's Exes," the sidesplitting redneck comedy by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten that opens the Marietta company's 2013-14 season. The cast, directed by Pete Borden, includes Abby Avery, Lynda Palmer, Beth Stafford, Terri Callozzo, Pat Perera, Randy Drake, Barbara McFann, Scott Pollak, Mary Nimsgern, Amor Owens and Andy Ward.
