Machelle "Shea" Daniels, a city of Smyrna employee, faces charges after allegedly stealing more than $35,000 from the city.

Daniels, 53, worked as an event coordinator for the city and rented buildings to customers for events, according to the arrest warrant.

Daniels allegedly stole cash and checks from customers who paid her to rent space at Brawner Hall and Aunt Fanny's Cabin in Smyrna. Then, Daniels reportedly deposited the stolen money into three separate bank accounts, each belonging to her or a member of her family. Daniels is also accused of stealing and pawning a camera worth about $1,500 from the city of Smyrna in 2012.

Daniels was arrested by the Smyrna Police Department on June 21 and jailed on a $50,000 bond. She was charged with theft, computer trespassing, forgery, and money laundering, all felonies.
