Dylan Rice, 26, of Marietta, GA., passed away suddenly on June 5, 2013. Dylan was the son of Beverly and Robert “Bob” Rice. Dylan was a kind and gentle person with many interests. He loved photography and astronomy and he combined these two interests by photographing among other celestial objects, shooting stars and comets. He also loved trains and could identify them just by listening to them. After the deaths of his parents, Dylan was left alone in the world. He had never driven a car, written a check, taken care of a house, paid bills or spent much time with people outside his family. In the last year of his life, he made many new friends and worked hard to gain the skills necessary to live on his own. He learned to drive and got his driver’s license and assumed the responsibilities of adulthood. He accomplished in one short year the skills it takes most of us years to develop. Sadly, he was never able to recover completely from the loss of his beloved mother. He will be deeply missed by the many friends and neighbors who came to know and care for him during the last year of his short life. A graveside service will be held 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta. Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta will be handling the arrangements.
