MARIETTA — The Ruff ‘N Sluff, Marietta’s local bridge club, is participating June 21 in The Longest Day, an annual fundraiser to raise awareness and funds for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association.
“Almost everyone has been touched by Alzheimer’s,” says Priscilla Smith, owner of the Ruff ‘N Sluff and a long-time American Contract Bridge League director. “It’s a terrible disease and our club wanted to help support the efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association in any way we could.”
The day will begin at 6:30 a.m. with Breakfast and Bridge, and throughout the day there will be fun activities including lessons. There will be games for every level of player, free food, and for ACBL players, double points. The last game is scheduled to end at 10:30 p.m.
“I’m hoping that even those who don’t play bridge will get involved,” said Smith. “Come for a free lesson, bring a friend, or just stop by to make a donation in honor of a loved one.”
