A Smyrna woman is accused of physically abusing two teenagers after she found her 15-year-old runaway daughter at Rose Garden Park on Teasley Drive in Smyrna.

Shaneka Rouse was searching for her daughter, according to the arrest warrant. Rouse is accused of striking her daughter and her daughter’s 17-year-old friend with her hand and a black tire iron when she found them in the park. A police officer said he saw several lacerations on one of the victim’s faces.

Rouse was charged with family violence and cruelty to children. She was arrested by Smyrna Police on May 28 and jailed on a $20,000 bond.

Understanding Mom

Unless bones were broken, all charges against Ms. Rouse should be dropped immediately! Instead she needs to be commended for handling her business as a mom. "Time outs" and "restrictions" will not get the attention of a 15 year old runaway who is hanging out (and doing whatever) in the park with a 17 year old. How about charging the 17 year old as an adult for contributing to the delinquency of a minor? I support Ms. Rouse in continuing to discipline her daughter as needed. Spare the rod and spoil the child...
