Ruth Cox, 95, of Panama City, Fla., formerly of Marietta, Ga. passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013. Ruth was born in Marietta, Ga. and lived here until moving to Panama City, Fla. three years ago. She was a graduate of Marietta High School, and worked many years at Anderson Chevrolet until her retirement. Ruth was a long-time, faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Marietta, where she was a member of the Wesleyan Service Guild. She also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Ruth loved her church and her family, and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Hilley Cox and Emma Smith Cox; her siblings, sister Norma Cox, brother Willis Raymond Cox, sister Helen Cox Duncan, sister Jerry Cox, brother Joseph Edwin Cox, and a nephew, Dr. Matthew D. Stringer. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. A graveside funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. EST, Monday, May 6, 2013 at the Marietta City Cemetery with Rev. Elaine Wilder officiating. Interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ruth’s name may be made to the 1st United Methodist Church of Marietta Memorial Fund, 56 Whitlock Ave., SW, Marietta, GA 30064.
