Jay Farish, 83, of Atlanta died Thursday, the 2nd of May 2013. He was the beloved husband for 57 years of Barbara Glenn Farish, the devoted and faithful father of Julie Farish Mendenhall (Mel), Stephen (Robin), and John (Celia), and the extremely proud grandfather of Allen, Brett, and Ansley Mendenhall; Madison, Taylor, and Reagan Farish; and Sarah Elizabeth, Christiana, Stephanie, and John Farish; and one great-grandson, Noah Mendenhall. After growing up in Monroeville, Alabama, Jay earned his B.S. degree from Auburn University, where he starred as captain of the basketball team. After college he served his country as Second Lieutenant in the Air Force. He worked for 40 years as a businessman of the highest integrity, first in manufacturing and then in executive search consulting. Most significantly, however, he was a faithful man of God who loved and served the church for which Jesus Christ our Lord gave his life. Memorial services celebrating Jay’s life will be held Sunday, the 5th of May at three o’clock at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, with Reverend Stephen Farish and Rev. G. Bryant Wright officiating. Prior to the memorial service the family will have gathered for a private interment at Arlington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to Wears Valley Ranch, 3601 Lyon Springs Road, Sevierville, TN 37862-8257. Friends are cordially invited to visit with the family Saturday afternoon from four until six o’clock at H. M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328.
