GAINESVILLE, Ga. (AP) — Rescue officials in north Georgia have removed a man from a 50-foot well in Hall County.
Fire Marshal Scott Cagle tells the Gainesville Times the unidentified man was repairing water lines that run above the well before he fell in Tuesday afternoon.
Cagle says rescue workers used a harness to lift the man from the well — which is estimated to be about 3 feet wide — and freed the man after nearly an hour. Authorities say the man fell about 40 feet into the well.
Cagle says the man suffered bumps, bruises and abrasions, but was alert and conscious during the rescue effort and after being removed from the well.
