An Austell man has been arrested on drug and battery charges after an incident in which the victim was able to text for help from a friend.

Carl Anthony Ligon was charged Monday with felony cocaine possession and misdemeanor sexual battery for allegedly trying to molest a woman in her Austell home.

According to an arrest warrant, the disabled victim allowed Ligon into her home to borrow a cigarette, at which point he allegedly grabbed her and attempted to engage in sexual activity. She resisted and was able to text a friend that a man was trying to molest her. The friend called the victim’s home nurse, who rushed to the scene.

Ligon had already left the house at that point but had left his wallet on the scene.

While Cobb Police officers were investigating Ligon on the sexual battery charges, they found crack cocaine and a pipe in his car.

Ligon was released Wednesday on a $10,000 bond.
