Gwinnett police have charged a man in a horrific case of animal cruelty. Investigators say Michael Glover beat a 10-week old kitten for bothering his dog.

The kitten had head trauma so extensive its eye was swollen shut. It's now out of ICU and slowly regaining strength.

"The cat tried to pass by his side and that's when he hit him. He hit it with his two hands, like he was playing golf, so I have to assume it was pretty hard," said Gwinnett police Cpl. Jake Smith.

Gwinnett police say Glover, 40, used a stick last Tuesday to beat the kitten because it was on his property.

"When the officers arrived on scene, they saw the kitten was injured and the suspect actually pointed out the stick that was used and it was the equivalent size to a baseball bat. There were some injuries to the skull and possibly to the brain," said Smith.

The suspect's mother, Joyce Daniel, says the cat was at their fence line antagonizing their pit bull. She says he tried to get the kitten away, but never hit it in the head.

"The cat was not hit on his head but hit on his leg," said Daniel. She says she doesn't know how the cat's eye was swollen shut.

The kitten has made a full recovery but its owner says he's afraid to bring the kitten back to his Buford home. It's now at the Gwinnett County animal shelter where they hope to have it ready for adoption this week.

"I hope he gets adopted and into a good family," said the owner.

Police charged Glover with one count of aggravated cruelty to animals, and is in the Gwinnett County jail. A judge has not set a bond because Glover was out on probation for burglary at the time of the arrest.

While you may love your pet, your much loved pet may be as welcome to the neighbors as plagues of rats and locusts.

If you love your pet, KEEP IT INSIDE YOUR HOUSE

I think both adult parties in this case should be imprisoned. Had the cat owner properly cared for his pet, this could not and would not have happened.

I feel sure D.A. King probably supports Mister Glover in this case. After all, Mister Glover may be a convicted criminal like D.A. hisself, but mister Glover by name alone sounds not be an Illegal, and we all know the source of all crime are Illegals, at least according to the D.A.'s Whiteman Society!

Cats are not exempt from leash laws!

Anyone that is able to beat a kitten has serious issues.
