Prep roundup: Schniederjans one-hits North Cobb

Ben Schniederjans pitched a complete-game one-hit shutout Monday to lead Harrison to a 6-0 win over Region 4AAAAAA rival North Cobb.

Schniederjans struck out 12 on the night. North Cobb’s only hit off him was a single to left by Trevor Devine in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Nick Sexton was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, Cam Iszler went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Tony Flores added an RBI double.

Harrison (9-8, 6-2) will travel to Kennesaw Mountain on Wednesday. North Cobb (10-8, 6-4) will host Lakeside-DeKalb on Thursday.

McEachern 10, Hillgrove 0 (6 inn.): Bruce Kirkpatrick pitched a complete-game two-hit shutout as the Indians took care of their Region 4AAAAAA rivals.

Kirkpatrick struck out seven to earn his eighth victory of the year.

T.J. Clark was 2-for-3 with a double and drove in three. Sam Stephens and Jonathan Wells each had a double and drove in two, Daulton Geekie went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and Trey Harris added a double and an RBI.

McEachern (15-3, 9-1) will travel to Marietta on Wednesday.

South Cobb 11, Pebblebrook 10: Jose Bustamonte drove in Thomas Leffew with a game-winning single in the bottom of the seventh to lift the Eagles to a Region 4AAAAAA victory.

South Cobb trailed most of the evening until the fifth. Deion Law provided the big hit in the inning with a two-run double.

Tyler Minkkinnen went

2-for-3 and pitched the final two innings to earn the victory.

Marion Hines went 2-for-4 and Avery Williams was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

South Cobb (8-10, 3-7) will host Hillgrove on Wednesday.

Osborne 9, Meadowcreek 3: Niles Goings was 2-for-4 with a double and a solo home run to lead the Cardinals to a non-region victory.

Charles Logan was 2-for-4 with an RBI, Martin Logan finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and Andrew Loos added an RBI double.

Osborne (3-10) will travel to Pope on Thursday.

Darlington 12, Walker 2 (5 inn.): Kevin Bray went 2-for-3 with a double, but it wasn’t enough as the Wolverines dropped a Region 6A contest.

James Pittinger also finished 2-for-3.

Walker (4-12, 4-8) will host Trion on Thursday.

Kennesaw Mountain 4, Campbell 0: Will Griffin pitched a two-hit shutout to lead the Mustangs to a Region 4AAAAAAA victory.

Griffin allowed only two hits and struck out six.

Alex Darwich went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Reggie Pruitt was 2-for-3 with a double. Mitch Hammonds had an RBI triple in seventh and Matt Cole added a double.

Kennesaw Mountain (9-8, 4-6) will host Harrison on Wednesday.


Lassiter 10, Darlington 0: Robbie Cutchin scored three goals and had two assists as the Trojans rolled to a non-region victory.

Alex Champion scored two goals and Justin Shaw added one.

Lassiter (14-0) will host Gainesville on April 16.


Allatoona 7, Pope 6: Ryan Tesler scored four goals to lead the Buccaneers to a key Area 2 A-AAAAA victory over the Greyhounds

Allatoona trailed most of the game, but Gunnar Schafers scored late in fourth with the game-winning goal.

Schafers finished with two goals and an assist. Dylan Lowenstein added three assists.

Pope was led by Parker Lavelle with three goals. Cody Polifka, Johnny Sexton and Davis Glover scored one apiece.


Sprayberry 13, Creekview 5: After a slow start at home, Sprayberry got into rhythm against its Area 2A-AAAAA opponent by scoring four straight to begin the second half.

Taylor McGee had four goals to lead the Lady Yellow Jackets (6-5, 4-2). Gaby Lohner and Caroline Curtis both added three goals. Jennie Racher contributed with two assists.

Julia Abney had seven saves in goal for Sprayberry.

Sprayberry will host River Ridge in another area game.

Kell 22, River Ridge 1: Kell overwhelmed River Ridge behind five goals from Emily Swift.

Katie Kunberger and Izzie Palermo both had three goals in the game. Lizzy Ferguson, Sarah Bilecki and Sachi Griffiths each had two.

Kell (8-2, 5-0 in Area 2A-AAAAA) will be playing two game out of state April 13 against Charlotte Catholic (N.C.) and Myers Park (N.C.).


Kennesaw Mountain 4, Marietta 1: Aaron Barris won 6-1, 6-2 to help the Mustangs close out Region 4AAAAAA with a win.

Joe Klokow won 6-0, 6-1 as did Matthew Osajima 6-1, 6-1.

Hunter Croxton and Ryan Deatrick won 6-1, 6-2 in doubles play

Jay Buxton and Patrick Lee won 6-2, 7-6 to win Marietta’s only match.

Kennesaw Mountain (14-2, 6-2) will host North Paulding today.

North Cobb 4, Harrison 1: North Cobb cruised at No. 1 and No. 2 singles with Jaryd Reese and Andre Camino winning 6-0, 6-0.

After, that, the Warriors were required to win a pair of grueling three-setters.

After losing the first set decisively, Richard Johnson came back to win 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 singles. Bradford Lahmann and Jacob Hightower played a perfect first set but needed three sets to win 6-0, 6-7, 6-2.

Harrison’s lone point at No. 1 doubles also came on a three-seter with Peter Heflin and Ben Maryland winning

6-4, 2-6, 6-4.

North Cobb, who is the top seed in the Region 4AAAAAA and will begin tournament play Wednesday at North Cobb.


Harrison 3, North Cobb 2: The Lady Hoyas closed out Region 4AAAAAA play with a win over the Lady Warriors.

Alexis Morris won 6-2, 6-2 and Wendy Jhang 6-1, 6-0 in singles and the doubles team of Autumn Weakley and Liz Powers won 6-1, 7-6 to clinch the match.

North Cobb got singles wins from Lauren D’Olympio 7-6, 7-5 and Claire Bracken and Morgan Zahnd 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 in doubles play.

Harrison (9-7-1, 6-2) will face South Cobb on Wednesday in the opening round of the region tournament.

Kennesaw Mountain 4, Marietta 1: Samantha Armas and Chika Okonkwo combined to lose just one game at No. 2 and No. 3 singles. Both Kennesaw Mountain doubles teams won in straight sets with Marilyn Corn and Katie Manroe winning 6-2, 6-3 and Abby Seabaugh and Samantha Maddin winning 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.

Brooke Donnelly defeated Nicole Croxton 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles for Marietta’s only point.

The Lady Mustangs (14-3, 8-0) will cap its regular season at home today against North Paulding.


Walton 120, Woodstock 138, Lassiter 145: Abbey Williams shot a 1-over par 37 to lead the Lady Raiders to a tri-match victory at Towne Lake Hills Golf Club.

Lindsay Seagraves shot 41 and Merideth Singer added a 42.

Walton (5-0) will face Etowah on Thursday at Indian Hills Country Club.
