ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — Authorities say firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to find an unconscious man in a burning home and pull him through a window to safety in northeast Georgia.
The rescue happened Wednesday night, in a blaze that destroyed the man’s home on Atlanta Avenue in Clarke County.
Athens-Clarke County Assistant Fire Chief Kyle Hendrix says the 53-year-old victim possibly wasn’t breathing when the firefighters found him inside the burning duplex.
Hendrix tells The Athens Banner-Herald that firefighters removed the man through a window and started first aid until an ambulance arrived.
Hendrix did not have information concerning the man’s condition. The cause of the blaze remained under investigation late Thursday.
