Mr. William Carl Womack, age 91 of Marietta, GA, died March 9, 2013. A native Atlantan, Mr. Womack was born January 5, 1922, and was a 1940 graduate of Tech High and a 1945 graduate of Georgia Tech. He was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. Mr. Womack was employed by the architectural firm of Stevens & Wilkinson from 1945 until his retirement in 1984. During those years, he became a senior partner and served as Chief of Architecture, working on notable Atlanta projects such as the Rich’s stores. He was a talented woodworker and loved playing golf and traveling with the Georgia Senior Golfers Association. A man of quiet faith and integrity, he was a devoted husband of 66 years and a fine example to his children. Mr. Womack currently resided at Winnwood Retirement Community in Marietta. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Branning Womack, parents, James Aubrey and Agatha Seward Womack, and brothers, Aubrey and Harry Womack. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Michael Costley of Covington, GA, Suzanne and Bruce Larsen of Marietta, GA, and son and daughter-in-law, Bill, Jr. and Cindi Womack of Greensboro, NC, seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, and brother, Jack Womack of Savannah, GA. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 12 noon Saturday, April 6, at Carmichael Funeral Home in Marietta (770) 424-4924. A memorial service officiated by Reverend Brian Butler, nephew of Mr. Womack, will be held at 12 noon following the visitation.
