Firefighters in Cobb County battled a fire at an apartment complex on Tuesday.

The fire at the Harmony Meadows Apartments on South Cobb Drive in Marietta sparked at around 4:30 a.m. When FOX 5 arrived at the scene, flames could be seen shooting from one of the buildings.

Resident Adriana Rodriguez says she was watching television with her mother when they heard her 3-year-old sister crying in the bedroom. They went in to check on her and found the room on fire.

Fire fighters believe speakers next to the girl's bed may have caught on fire, causing the blaze.

They rushed outside without shoes to escape the flames. They escaped with what they wore on their backs.

According to authorities, one firefighter suffered a minor knee injury and was treated and released. One man suffered from smoke inhalation and was transported to an area hospital.

Red Cross officials say they assisted 20 residents displaced by the fire by providing food, clothing and temporary lodging.
