Prep Roundup: Lassiter walks off with victory

A pair of bases loaded walks was all Lassiter would need to down Cherokee 2-0 on Monday in a Region 5AAAAAA contest.

In the bottom of the sixth, Eric Ankerholz drew the first bases loaded walk to score Grant Berry. Cornell Nixon followed and earned another free pass, which brought in Nick Esposito.

Tim Eber pitched six shutout innings, allowing five hits and striking out four. K.J. Sinclair pitched the seventh to earn the save.

Lassiter (8-4, 1-1) will travel to Roswell on Wednesday.

Walton 6, Etowah 0: Will White allowed two hits over six innings to lead the Raiders to a Region 5AAAAAA victory.

Aaron Rzucidlo went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, Avery Robers was 2-for-3 with an RBI, Chase Burks was 2-for-3 with a solo home run and Luke Manzo added a pair of hits.

Walton (11-4, 2-1) will travel to Cheokee on Wednesday.

McEachern 5, Harrison 3: Two walks, two errors and two doubles in the fourth inning was good enough to lift the Indians to a Region 4AAAAAA victory.

Tied 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth, McEachern capitalized on Harrison miscues, and added doubles by Daulton Geekie and Trey Harris to score four runs.

Harris finished the game

2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI and Aaron Morris added a hit and an RBI.

Bruce Kirkpatrick pitched a complete game allowing one earned run while striking out six.

Austin Kuchinski led Harrison going 2-for-4

McEachern (12-3, 6-1) will travel to Harrison on Wednesday.

Mount Paran Christian 15, Trion 0 (4 Inn): Ryan Murphy was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs to lead the Eagles to the Region 6A win.

Landon Faulkner had a two-run triple and Matt McKenzie drove in a pair on two sacrifice flies.

Colton Cannon allowed three hits in four innings to earn the win.

Mount Paran Christian

(13-2, 10-2) will travel to Mount Zion-Carroll today.

Hillgrove 8, Kennesaw Mountain 0: Chase Adkins threw a complete-game no-hitter against the Mustangs in a Region 4AAAAAA game.

He faced only one above the minimum going into the seventh inning and allowed just four base runners.

Atkins threw just 84 pitches in seven innings of work finished with nine strikeouts.

HIllgrove scored four runs in the fourth to get separation, highlighted by two-run home run by Brian Johnson. Justin Haney added a two-run home run in the fifth and finished with three RBIs.

Hillgrove (7-6, 4-1) will play Kenensaw Mountain again Wednesday at Kennesaw Mountain.

Sprayberry 22, Osborne 9 (6 inn.): The Yellow Jackets scored 11 unanswered runs in the fifth and sixth to overcome the Cardinals in a Region 4AAAAAA game.

Osborne struck quickly with a four runs in the top of the first before Sprayberry answered with eight in the bottom half of the inning.

Michael Chavis was 2-for-3 with two home runs, eight RBIs and three runs scored for Sprayberry (6-8, 6-3) in Region 5AAAAA). McKenzie Mills was 2-for-2 with a double, three walks, two RBIs and three runs. Bobby Gauvreau, Jordan McClure, Clint Coleman and Tucker Breen each had two hits.

Sprayberry will play at Kell on Wednesday.

Dominion Christian 7, Arlington 2: The Knights scored three six inning runs to break the game open at home. Luke Lewallen had a bases clearing double to open up the sixth and finished with three-RBIs and a walk. Tate Cooney was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Dorien Jenkins was 2-for-2 with two walks.

Connor Worley got the win on the mound. He went six innings, giving up two runs on one hit. He also threw five strikeouts and no walks.

Dominion (6-3) will play at Loganville today.

GIRLS SOCCER

Whitefield Academy 8, Darlington 1: Caitlin Hesse scored four goals with two assists to lead the Lady Wolfpack to the Area 7A victory.

Francis Hamilton scored two goals while Logan Pierce and Sophie Kemether added one each.

Emma Wright made six saves in goal.

Whitefield Academy (6-2, 3-1) will travel to Providence on Thursday.

Allatoona 8, South Paulding 0: Allatoona preserved the Region 5AAAAA shutout behind four goals from Suzanne Arafa and two goals from McKenzie Anderson.

Willough Davis added four assists and Ash Das and Sammi Jacob each added a goal.

Emily Jones and Miranda Creagan combined for the shutout, facing seven shots on goal.

The Lady Buccaneers (5-4-1, 4-2) and will play at Lithia Springs today in another region match.

Pope 10, Wheeler 0: Ana Elias scored three goals to lead Pope in a one-sided match against east Cobb rival Wheeler. Jessie Sexton added two goals and four assists. Parker Schroedel also had two goals.

Schroedel’s sister Randy added a goal as did Alex Grace and Alexa Moore.

Pope (5-4-2) will host Cambridge today.

GIRLS TENNIS

Pope 5, Forsyth Central 0: Taylor Reed and Kate Weber each won matches

6-1, 6-0 to lead the Lady Greyhounds to a Region 7AAAAA victory.

Katrina Kling won the last singles match 6-2, 6-1.

The doubles teams of Lauren Husney and Katie Story as well as Lindsay Roberts and Meghan Matsumoto won 6-1, 6-2.

Pope (7-7, 4-3) will travel to Northview today.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Sprayberry 15, Allatoona 0: Taylor McGhee scored four goals to lead the Lady Yellow Jackets to a one-sided victory over its Area 2A-AAAAA rival.

Caroline Curtis completed a hat trick and Gaby Lohner also had three goals, plus an assist. Jennie Racher finished with atwo goals and an assist. Ashley Russo also had two goals, and Caitlin Cochran also scored.

Julia Abney preserved the shutout at goal with six saves.

Sprayberry (4-5, 2-2) took an 8-0 lead at the half and will play at Darlington on Wednesday.
