Denell Boyd with Cobb Fire said that agency received a call around 8:30 a.m. Monday reporting a tree down in a person’s front yard at the intersection of Hunnicut Road and Cardell Circle in Mableton.
The tree fell on the Georgia Power lines in front of the home, but no one was reported injured. Crews were on scene shortly after the call, and by Monday afternoon, it was cleaned up and repaired.
“There are no outages there now,” said Mark Williams of Georgia Power on Monday afternoon. “It’s been cleaned up and the power has been restored.”
He was unable to say exactly how many customers lost power or how long it took to repair the lines and get the customers back online.
Mark Justice with Cobb EMC said someone called the utility around 1 a.m. to report a tree down on a power line at Mabry Lane off Mabry Road in east Cobb.
“Crews had to take down the primary line. ... The pole broke and 18 people were without power on that street for about six hours,” he said Monday morning.
Crews had to change the pole, put up a new transformer and hang new wire.
There was no damage to any homes or cars and no injuries to residents.
